Pass and slap hands

Practice the passing technique and discourage beginner players from moving around with their hands together in passing position.

Set up

# of players : 1-8 players
Ideal : 1 player
Equipment : 1-8 balls
Average duration : 5-10 minutes

Description

  1. Player A stands anywhere on the court.
  2. PA passes the ball to himself and slaps hands.
  3. Repeat

Evaluation : # of good passes executed or # of time (ex. 2 min)

Progression

  1. Low balls
  2. 1 low (3 feet above the arms), 1 medium (6- 8 feet above the arm) 1 high (10-12 feet).
  3. Have the coach calls low, medium and High balls.

Key points

  • Athletes should be reminded that they should contact the ball out in from of them between the wrist and elbow and that there should be a space between them and the ball.
  • By bending the legs and keeping the arms relatively parallel to the ground they will develop more accuracy.
