Passing – on on 1

Keep the pass ‘smaller’ and 'closer’ than you would in the indoor game. Practice your setting passing with this high repetition drill.

Set up

# of players : 2-8 players
Ideal : 3 players
Equipment : 5-12 balls
Average duration : 15-35 minutes

Description

  1. Player A starts at the back line ready to serve. Player B receives on the other side of the court.
  2. Player A or coach serves or throws on Player B.
  3. Player B receives and aims to catch the ball.
  4. Player A serves again.

Evaluation : # of good passes (ex. 10) or # of time.(ex. 4 min)

  • Right side
  • Left side
  • Rotate players

Progression

  1. Receive and catch.
  2. 2 receivers
  3. Jump serves or thougher serves.

Key points

  • Play the ball with straight arms and bend the knees to get down low if necessary.
  • If possible the athlete should move to pass ball in
  • the centerline of their body.
  • The target of the pass is forward and slightly in towards the court.
