Set and move

Developing hand setting with a nice up and down trajectory.  
Practice on moving back and sideways in the
sand.

Set up

# of players : 3-4 players
Ideal : 3 players
Equipment : 1 ball and a net
Average duration : 10 minutes

Description

  1. Two pairs of athletes start facing each other across the net close to the antenna.
  2. Player A proceeds to set the ball across the net to Player B. After setting the ball the athletes move around behind their partner who is beside them and down the net.
  3. Player B sets across the net to Player C. who then moves.
  4. Continue along the net and turn back when arriving at the end of it.

Evaluation : # of lines (back and forth).

Key points

  • Athletes need to be aware of the wind moving the ball.
  • Athletes need to communicate in order for this drill to run smoothly.
  • Athletes should try to have a nice wide balance stance when setting.

Chilled approach

  • Dip, dip, push
  • Shoulders always facing the target (net)
  • Chilled body

Setting position

  • Legs and arms are pushing together
  • The leg closer to the net target in front
  • Bumpset : continue movement to the target
  • Handset : with the pointer and thumb making a triangle. Relieve fast
  • Your feet should be staggered with a sligh bend in your knees
  • Your shoulders over your toes when receiving the ball

  • Up and down
